Example Calculation

Example: 20 recorded workdays

9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, minus a 30-minute unpaid break, gives 7:30 per day. For 20 matching days: 20 × 7:30.

Monthly total = 150:00, or 150.00 decimal hours.

Frequently Asked Questions About Monthly Timesheet Calculator

How do I calculate hours worked in a month?

Select the calendar month and enter each workday's start time, end time, and unpaid breaks. The calculator adds the daily net durations and shows the monthly total in hours:minutes and decimal hours.

Does the calculator use the actual number of days in the month?

Yes. It generates the selected month's real dates, including 28 or 29 days in February and 30 or 31 days in other months. Weekends remain available for shifts.

Can I use AM/PM or 24-hour times?

Yes. Daily entries accept times such as 9:00 AM and 5:00 PM, or 09:00 and 17:00. When an end time is earlier than the start time, the shift crosses midnight and is assigned to its start date.

How many hours per month is a 40-hour workweek?

The average conversion is 40 × 52 ÷ 12, or approximately 173.33 hours per month. It is an annual average, not the actual total for a particular calendar month. Use the separate average-hours module for this estimate.

Does a monthly timesheet calculate overtime?

This monthly view records actual hours and optional base-rate pay. It does not calculate overtime premiums. Weekly subtotals run Monday–Sunday and include only dates in the selected month; they are not complete employer-defined workweeks when a week crosses the month boundary.

Are holidays and paid leave calculated automatically?

No. Leave non-working dates empty or clear their times after bulk filling. This version does not calculate regional holidays, paid leave entitlement, or holiday pay.

Can I save, share, or print my monthly time card?

You can calculate and print without an account, including saving the print output as PDF through your browser. Sign in to save, reopen, or share a read-only record.

How is a monthly time card different from biweekly or semi-monthly?

A monthly time card covers one full calendar month. Biweekly covers a 14-day period. Semi-monthly divides a month into two periods, often the 1st–15th and the 16th–last day. This page uses the full calendar month.

Can I export the results as CSV for Excel?

Yes. Export CSV downloads the selected month's real dates, daily start/end times, deducted breaks, net hours in HH:MM and decimal hours, calendar-week subtotals, and the monthly total. A valid payment summary is included when payment is enabled. Exporting requires neither an account nor a saved record; saving and sharing require sign-in. Import the CSV into Excel or another spreadsheet. The file is not an XLSX workbook.
